What We Care About...

We care about Pets! We care about rescues and shelters filling up with homeless, neglected and sick dogs and cats due to overpopulation.

SNAP was created in 2013 to provide Mexican pet owners a safe and healthy option to unwanted dog and cat litters. By offering free spay and neuter services to the Los Barriles and surrounding towns, we help alleviate the abandonment and neglect of these animals. We care about our communities and want to provide the education and services needed to prevent the unnecessary animal suffering caused by unwanted litters. We want to mentor youth to become the leaders of tomorrow in the area of humane pet ownership.

Our Mission

  1. Provide free spay/neuter for Mexican owned dogs and cats in Los Barriles, B.C.S. and the surrounding area

  2. Mentor Mexican community members to become strong leaders in their community on social causes
  3. Educate youth to be leaders in responsible pet ownership and the importance of spay/neuter
  4. Promoting responsible pet ownership with community education

Our Values

Our Goals

Dr Cristabol
Paula Myers - Education & Leadership
After 30 years of public service, Paula retired from the State of Oregon as a Prison Superintendent. Some may say her previous experience running a prison has prepared her for her new role with SNAP “herding cats (and dogs)” and developing an educational and leadership program.
Paula is a firm believer that true fulfillment comes from what you can do for others and as a leader she has been committed to developing others at a personal and professional level for over two decades.  Meaningful change happens when those most impacted by the solution are included and involved in the outcome.
Paula and her spouse Rita are proud of their two kind and determined daughters, two fun loving grandchildren, and they are dog moms to two adorable rescue dogs.
Rita Rehome-Myers - Program Director
Rita is a self proclaimed animal enthusiast. Often greeting pets before owners when meeting. She’s never met a dog or cat that she won’t help in some way. After retiring from government work in Oregon, Rita and her spouse Paula spend most of their time in BCS. While being an avid pet lover she also recognizes that  we will never be able to foster and adopt our way out of the overpopulation and mistreatment of pets. This is why Rita is working with SNAP, because spay and neuter is the key component to reducing the population of unwanted and neglected dogs and cats.
Rita is also the proud mother of two wonderful daughters, two amazing grandkids and two adopted dogs.
Community Outreach Team

Our Community Outreach and Leadership Team got their start with SNAP after having their own pets spayed and neutered and realizing how important this service is for their neighbors.  All of our team members live and work in the Los Barriles and surrounding areas and understand better than most the needs and struggles in our communities.  We love that our team involves their children in the important work of teaching the next generation the importance of responsible pet ownership.
